Dr. Castro-Carter joined Healing Motion Physical Therapy in April of 2025.
Erika is a San Francisco, California native. She graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California with her Bachelor of Arts in Child Development. She then completed her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OT), graduating Cum Laude at Pacific University in 2022.
After two years of specialized training in pelvic health, Erika is honored to serve the community alongside the Healing Motion Physical Therapy team!
Erika has experience working with people across the lifespan. Her first exposure to pelvic health came while working in outpatient pediatric rehabilitation. After this, Erika began to explore adult pelvic health rehabilitation where she developed a passion to pursue pelvic health as a specialty. Having received an IBS diagnosis in adolescence, she understands the frustration of not knowing what is going on with your body, seeing multiple specialists and not having answers, and feeling physically and emotionally debilitated by pain and discomfort. Erika’s personal experience compelled her to pursue pelvic health so she can help empower others to achieve optimal health and wellness. Erika strives to provide her clients with physical and emotional relief and to feel strong and confident in their bodies so that they can live life to the fullest.
Erika’s clinical approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and follows a biopsychosocial approach. Erika values collaborating with her clients to achieve goals and make them feel safe, validated, and supported throughout their care. This approach paired with her OT background allows her to focus on addressing her clients’ priorities and to empower them to manage their symptoms. Additionally, this approach allows her to focus on the impact symptoms have on daily activities and/or tasks, routines, life roles, and quality of life. Erika addresses the physical symptoms, as well as the social and emotional implications that often come with pelvic floor challenges. By treating the whole person, clients can re-engage in daily activities that are meaningful and necessary for them to function with comfort, confidence, and satisfaction.
Erika lives in Albany with her husband and cats. In her free time, Erika enjoys snuggling and playing with her cats, cooking with her husband, traveling, puzzles, mountain biking, walking, yoga, and Pilates.
