Who We Are
Each therapist at our clinic is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with extensive, specialized training in the treatment of pelvic health.
We offer skilled therapy for conditions that include pregnancy & postpartum care, bowel and bladder concerns, pelvic pain, and pelvic organ prolapse. We offer trauma-informed care for the treatment of all genders and all ages.
What is the Pelvic Floor and Pelvic Health Physical Therapy?
The system of muscles, ligaments and fascia that lies at the base of the bony pelvis is referred to as the pelvic floor. These structures connect between the tailbone, pubic bone and “sit bones” (ischial tuberosities) of the pelvis. The pelvic floor is frequently involved in pelvic health conditions, as it has several important functions: it supports the pelvic organs, provides stability for the pelvis and torso, helps maintain urinary and fecal continence, aids in sexual function, and contributes to healthy circulation. Pelvic health physical therapy is specialty rehabilitation for conditions related to the pelvis.
How do I know if pelvic health physical therapy is right for me?
If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, you would likely benefit from pelvic physical therapy:
- Do you have pain in the pelvic floor region (that is: genitals, perineum, bladder area, or pain with urination or defecation)?
- Bladder symptoms: Do you find yourself frequently going to the bathroom, having trouble starting or stopping the stream of urine, or do you experience any accidental loss of urine?
- Bowel symptoms: Do you experience accidental loss of gas or stool, straining or pain to pass a bowel movement, difficulty initiating a bowel movement, or insufficient emptying of a bowel movement?
- Do you find yourself going to the restroom more frequently than others around you or do you wake two or more times in the night to urinate?
- Have you had low back, hip, tailbone, groin or sciatica pain that hasn’t resolved with prior treatment?
- Do you have pain with sexual activity?
